MEET THE PASTOR
Pastor J.B. Yelverton, is an ordained minister of the United Pentecostal Church International. He has been actively engaged in the work of the ministry since 1978 when he preached his first message at the age of seventeen, under the pastorate of Rev. J.T. Wheat. The early years of his ministry included evangelistic work, and serving as pastoral assistant to Rev. Ray Majors in Melville, LA and Rev. R.L. Endsley in Monroe, LA. He first accepted the call to pastor in 1991 and was elected pastor of Apostolic Tabernacle on January 5th, 1999. The church has experienced significant growth spiritually, numerically and financially since Pastor and Sis. Yelverton were called to Texarkana. He not only preaches the truth but lives his life as an example to others. He has mentored several young ministers and believes that God has a purpose and calling for everyone. His burden is to help them fulfill that calling. Sis. Yelverton was raised in a pastor’s home and saved as a young girl under the ministry of Rev. Verbal Bean. A woman of great personal character and faith, she gracefully fills the role of the ‘First Lady’ of Apostolic Tabernacle. She loves people and has a heart to serve. Together with their son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Andrea Yelverton (and their children: Lincoln, Luke, Levi & Logan); and their daughter and son-in-law, Jayla and Terry Ragsdale (and their children: Benson, Teagan & Aniston), they form a great team with a desire to do the work of God and see many souls saved in Texarkana and the surrounding area.
YOUTH
Bro. Terry & Sis. Jayla Ragsdale serve as Youth Leaders for one of the most outstanding youth groups in the United Pentecostal Church. This is a youth group with strong, heartfelt convictions. These kids are for real. They love God, their pastor and church. They pray and worship, they love holiness, they bring enthusiasm with them to every church service and they are united together to do a work for the Lord. Something is always going on, whether it’s a prayer meeting at the church, a ballgame in the gymnasium, or a youth service on Friday night. What an exciting time to be a young person at Apostolic Tabernacle!!

Sis. Jayla Ragsdale, Bro. Eric Yelverton, Bro. Griffin Bridges and Bro. Darrell Williams provide some of the most beautifully anointed music you will hear anywhere. Bro. Daniel Sams leads an outstanding praise team and Sis. Andrea Yelverton directs the Apostolic Tabernacle Chorale. Bro. Gary Dugan is our sound technician. This music ministry certainly enhances every service and inspires the congregation as we join together to lift up the name of Jesus!
100 GOOD MEN
Pastor Yelverton was impressed by the Spirit of God in a Saturday evening prayer meeting a few years ago that God would give to this church 100 good men, full of the Holy Ghost and faith. We will not feel as though our mission is accomplished until we see that vision come to fruition. The men in this church are encouraged to be spiritual leaders, honor their wives, bless their children, and support their pastor. We believe that strong men make a strong church and we are witnessing the evidence of it as God is raising up many good men within the assembly.
LADIES
Sis. Carol Stacy currently serves as our Ladies Minitries Director. Besides the dinners, special fundraisers and other events, the goal of this ministry is to utilize the spirituality, talents and abilities of women of faith for the advancement of the church.
USHERS/GREETERS
Bro. Roger Patterson serves as Usher Director. He makes sure that our excellent staff of ushers are ready to help anyone at anytime. From a first time visitor to the longest tenured member of the church, the ushers job is to facilitate and provide needful information from the moment you arrive at church.
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sis. Yelverton and Bro. John Craig serve as directors for a great Sunday School Ministry. Students are welcomed into their classroom every Sunday morning by prepared teachers. The facilities are first class and very inviting. Classes are always fun and exciting, but more importantly, students are taught the uncompromising Word of God. We believe that well trained children become well equipped adults. By the time they leave the Sunday School department they are ready to be productive members of the church.
